Founder & Publisher

Amber Olafsson

Amber is the founder and dreamer behind United House Publishing — a company she started after publishing her first book and realizing, "Wait, more people need help doing this!" Ten books later, she's still passionate about guiding Christian authors from idea to impact with clarity, confidence, and Holy Spirit fire.

Amber is a Kingdom entrepreneur, author, speaker, and storyteller fueled by Jesus and just the right amount of coffee. Together with her husband, she co-founded United House Ministries and Allegiance Coffee company. They live in the greater Charlotte, NC area with their three world-changing kids, an ever-growing list of farm animals, a whole lot of grace, and probably something in the crockpot.

When she's not helping others tell their stories, you'll find her on the back patio with a good book and a strong cup of coffee. Check out her bestselling book, I'll Say Yes, and follow her on Instagram @amberolafsson.

Our Approach

How We're Unique

Some things need to change. How to publish a book is one.

The publishing industry is changing, and if you want to publish a book, you can. Our heart as a Christian publishing house is to change this industry. We ensure the books which come out of our house are life-giving, done with excellence, and unite the body of Christ. We truly want to help get these world-changing messages out, no matter what the platform size or financial situation.

Traditional Publishing

Author must be represented by a literary agent, who requires a large following and polished manuscript or proposal. Traditional houses pay advances — which authors typically must earn back before seeing royalties. The literary agent also takes a cut.

Royalty: 5–7% of retail (~$0.75–$1.65/book), minus agent cut.

Pay-to-Publish

Charge a large fee upfront, then take a cut of every book sold. United House's self-publishing service runs at roughly half the starting cost of typical pay-to-publish companies, and we only take 10% of royalties post-publication.

UHP Self-Pub Royalty: 90% to author after publication.

Who We Are & How We Operate

Our Culture Points

These are the values and beliefs that guide everything we do at United House Publishing — from how we treat our authors to how we make every decision.

We are life-giving in all that we say and do.

Ephesians 4:29

We are not divided by our differences, but rather united by our King: Jesus.

1 Tim 6:15 · Ephesians 4:4-6

We believe God's way is the best way.

Romans 12:2

We empower people to fulfill their God-given purpose.

Ephesians 2:10 · 1 Pet 4:10

We strive to be spirit-led and prayerful with every decision we make.

Gal 5:25 · James 1:5

We are rooted in God's Love.

Eph 3:17-18

We know that with God ALL THINGS are possible.

Matt 19:26

We make pursuing dreams FUN.

Neh 8:10b

We believe the Word is a weapon and there is power in praise.

Ps 149:6-9

We are teachable.

Prov 13:10, 18b

We find our identity in Christ alone: In Him we are Children of God, forgiven, righteous, beloved, holy and free.

Ephesians 1:4-8 · Romans 4:24

Community & Generosity

Giving Back

Giving to others is a part of the fabric of who we are at United House Publishing. We not only give authors a chance to share their world-changing messages, but we want to give to those in need. When you partner with UHP, you are giving back to people who are desperately hoping help will come.

Our hearts have been turned towards children and adults who have mental, physical, and emotional impairments. A percentage of all book sales and membership profits goes towards the disabled community through our ministry partnerships.
